Meet Kady
Hello! I am Kady, the creator of Salt & Light Soap and aspiring soap expert! I am a new stay at home mom of one. I started making soap in June 2024 when I saw a video about using breastmilk to make gentle, skin-loving soap for babies. My son had sensitive skin and was struggling with some spots of eczema.
The next day I went to Hobby Lobby to buy a soap base and immediately got to work. I was very naive to think that my first batch of soap would be flawless! I added a few ounces of breastmilk to the Melt and Pour Soap Base and let it harden overnight in the freezer. Only to find it slimy and gross after the first few washes.
After that, I went on a deep dive for all things soap. I learned about the different soap processes (and why my first batch was slimy), different additives, and the benefits of natural homemade soaps. It became my goal to eventually remake the breastmilk soap perfectly. Thus, my new-found love for soap making was born!
